Purpose

The Foresight Community of Practice (CoP) aims to bring together foresight researchers and practitioners interested in transforming food, land, and water systems, with a focus on low and lower-middle-income countries. This is our community.

The practices we are interested in discussing include models and tools, data and metrics, and practical foresight analysis for enhanced priority setting, policy, and investment decision-making.

Note that these practices range from back-end model development and data analytics to generate actionable metrics, to the use of this knowledge for decision-making support.

Membership

Membership is open to members of the Foresight Initiative, CGIAR researchers interested in foresight, foresight researchers from outside CGIAR, and stakeholders and users of foresight modeling and analysis.

Activities

The Foresight CoP meets virtually every quarter. During these meetings, there is space for sharing recent work on foresight models, tools, data, and metrics, as well as foresight analysis and the practical use of these tools. Furthermore, we break out into smaller groups for informal chats.

The Foresight CoP has a discussion forum for its members to exchange information and knowledge and to engage in meaningful discussions on a wide variety of foresight-related topics.

The Foresight CoP is open to all types of foresight approaches. Currently, the Foresight CoP will naturally tend to focus more on quantitative foresight approaches as these are the foundation of the CGIAR Foresight Initiative hosting the foresight portal.

More qualitative foresight approaches are welcome as well.
